Last week Craig and I met up with a friend who happens to be trying to start up her own florist business to get some general guidance about the wedding. She generously lent me a stack of magazines and advised, "Just mark up the ones you like" focusing on:
- Textures
- Shapes
- Colours
- Styles
- and least of all, specific flowers (unless I had a specific one in mind, which I don't)
So over the next few days I selected my favorites, without thinking too much, and these are what I chose:
What I love about it: I love there's so much variety and un usual foliage. I love the overall red/pink tone of it and how there's little flashes of green.
What I don't love: Maybe too dark and pink if we extended this to all the flowers for the wedding?
What I love about it: I think I'd like something with more color but my eye caught on those little berries.
What I don't love: NO pearly-bobs for me.
What I love about it: Again, the variety and interesting foliage. I really like the little artichoke looking purple things. What I don't love: Too pink?
What I love about it: Soooo romantic! And I love the aged look of the roses.
What I don't love: Too pink? And I kind of thought roses were a bit boring for me.
What I love: I am currently a wee bit obsessed with the combo of bright pink and green.
What I don't love: I am not a fan of the shape created by the baby's breath. I think I'd like the bouquet to look a bit more organic and less round.
What I love about it: The colors just make my eyes jump!
What I don't love: I'm afraid this could look dated years from now, maybe need something a bit more classic?
So I don't know about you, but I'm havinga hard time pinning down what it is I want because they all seem really different to me! Although one glaring point is that there are no white bouquets in this list. I think I'm pretty sure I want more color in the flowers. I think.
Famous last words maybe?
Oh and a bonus picture:
Pretty flowers in birdcages!! How sigh-worthy is that??
All pictures were from various issues of Wedding Flowers Magazine (imaginative title huh?).
