And with this little beauty, I am done with Christmas knitting!!!

The hat above is Zimmerman's Ganomy Hat.  I used some leftover Lion Brand worsted weight and the sucker flew by on US8 needles.  I finished it watching two football games on tv this afternoon.  It's meant for Caiden who is about 5 now and I hope it fits. It's definitely too small for my big noggin so if I make it again for an adult (which I plan to) I'll need to either add some more stitches or go up a needle/yarn size. Ravelry link.

But anyway, more importantly, Christmas knitting is done!

I was so happy this afternoon I even ventured with a little still life...

The more astute of you will note that I  have sneaked in a February sweater which hasn't yet been fully debuted.

Also a Zimmerman creation, the February sweater has firmly convinced me to be a ZimmerFan. This particular sweater is named January as the recipient is due to arrive around then.  I used Lion Brand Cotton Ease, colorway Azalea, on US 7.  Ravelry link.

Well that was fast.

Fresh off the needles as evidenced by the yarn sitting by my GTA playing model.

I would highly recommend the helical method for a hat so long as you do not mind that by its nature you will end up with a stripe that doesn't quite completely close (you can see I mean by that by the light green that suddenly stops before the decreasing in the dark green).  I am not that picky, nor is my recipient so I'm super happy with this super fast project.

That's another Christmas gift done!

I think I may have stumbled into a sort of color slump:

 

Not really a slump though because I've been enjoying every minute of it. At the bottom is the Shalom cardigan, waiting for a button, and then the February sweater for my cousin due in January (modified with short sleeves).

But you know, something still should be done and the only solution is to kick the slump with a vengeance:

It's a simple striped beanie.  I'm on a hat kick because Christmas season is bearing down upon us and this year I'm not going home so I have to send warm woolly greetings from abroad.

The red and dark red beanie above (which is Turn a Square by Jared Flood) tries to avoid jogging by knitting the stitch below when changing colors.  But I learned that for some reason I'm not so good with that method.  I must be doing something wrong because the joins are even more noticeable.

Anyway, for the green/yellow stripey stripe I'm following Grumperina's advice regarding how to avoid jogs by taking advantage of the helical nature of knitting.  At this point I'm not quite sure what to do when it comes to decreasing but I think I'll top with with the dark green.

Hope it doesn't look like a sock.

Ahhh it's a lot easier to stay up and be obsessed with the election results this year.

Particularly since I can also occupy myself by presenting some FOs recently completed.
