What's up dawwwgs! I know, it's been ages since I've posted anything knitterly and I really have no excuses. But look, first post from the UK! Cheers mates!
Since moving I've only finished one project (but so close on a few others, oh the shame!). The Lotus Blossom Shawl was finished just under wire. It was to be a Christmas present for mom, got it done on Christmas eve eve, whew!
A close up of the blossoms:
I highly recommend Fiddlesticks patterns, the charts were very clear and well written. I actually did this on much smaller needles than the pattern called for (I like how "close lace" looks) on US3 circular bamboos. To make up for the smaller needles I added two extra blossom repeats. I should have added two more but I wasn't sure I had enough yarn (really need to get a scale) and when I blocked it I had to s-t-r-e-t-c-h it out to make sure it sized out appropriately.
Love the result.
And on Christmas I got to present my yearlong efforts to The Sisters Kim:
My mom is on the right. I know my aunt on the left doesn't seem as happy as the other two, but I KNOW she loves the shawl because she wore it two days later to church! :)
Ok that's all for now. I've been really lagging on the knitting these days because I hit a Knitting Roadblock. I had asked Kris to mail me a knitty care package which including a ball winder, books, and my sock club socks and guess what?! UK SHIPPING AND DELIVER SUCKS MONKEY AND DONKEY BALLS and they lost... EVERYTHING. Since then I just didn't even have the heart. I was SO looking forward to winding up my sock yarn and getting into some Nancy Bush socks (yes, of the missing was her Vintage sock book, please weep for me).
Anyway, you know what's getting me back on the horse? Freaking cold weather. I need some wool love for my feet!
So, hopefully in the next weeks or so I can post some socks I've finished (in the middle of two) and I'm also eyeing Le Slouch to give my ears a lil luvin too.
