Knitamari

A while back my friend Alana told me how she was addicted to some game called Katamari and when I asked her why it was so fun the she said,

"Well, you play this prince… and you have this… thing… called a katamari. And you like… roll it around to pick up… stuff."
"Stuff? Like what kind of stuff?"
"Like… everything!  Paper, cats, umbrellas, cars, whales, trees… stuff! And when you pick up stuff you get bigger so you can pick up bigger stuff!!"
"Sounds… fun?"
"OMGTotally!!!!!"

And now a year later it has come by fortuitous chance that I've stumbled across a sequel to the game called We <3 Katamari.  And yup, it's about picking stuff up and OMGTotally fun.

And although the game's been out for a while, for some reason I keep stumbling (yeah totally by accident) across Katamari related things.  More specifically, Katamari related knitted things.

That's right. Knitting and Katamari do inhabit a shared Sphere of Awesomeness and dammit, I'm not ashamed to admit that this is now in my knitting queue.  And this could be a cute gift for the right person.

But this is just taking things too far even for my geek sensibilities.

Wish I thought of this

I was going to write about how there was a joyous reunion with Vicki last night (she went to Africa for 3 weeks, lucky biotch).

I was going to write about how my friends and I are going to dress up as Ninja Turtles for the work Halloween party tonight (pics definately forthcoming, don't worry).

I was even going to write about how I'm going to the Chargers game this weekend (Go Chiefs!).

But I'm sorry, I have been too busy laughing while perusing You Knit What??

Yes, it's about knitting.  Yes, it's just a blog.  But I think most people would appreciate choking over their own laughter when stumbling across gems like this.  These are all examples of why knitting has a bad name.

I'm not sure if this was a ploy to lure guy knitters into thinking knitting is manly, but I remember thinking this when I saw the cover too.

New recruits

Last night I hosted Knitting for Knewbies (aka SYTYCK).  Kris and Marisa were to join me in teaching but as fate would have it, both of them couldn't make it.  But it was all good because I had some help via Knitting Apprentice Mabel (keep chugging through Misty Garden!) and I had some very adept students.  Everyone caught on much quicker than I did when I learned how to knit.

Plans for my sweatshop are finally coming together!

I think I'll be hosting another one at least once a month because I had originally planned this for a co-worker's girlfriend but she couldn't make it either.  That's right boys, I'm converting your girlfriends one beanie at a time, so you better shape up or face competition from the allure of "[k2tog, yo, ssk]x6".

So very tired. Stayed up late finishing my first sweater. Toot toot.

Also, I'm about halfway done with the letters but I think I'll be sending them out all on the same day, probably by the end of this week.

Please still like me

For those of you who are like me and love dark chocolate, Starbuck's Chantico is very very good.   It only comes in tiny 6oz. servings but I don't think I could drink more than that in one sitting so it works out all right.  Anyway, I feel an obsession coming along, I like it that much.

However, as the article states, the sucker is 350 calories.  Do you know how long that is on a treadmill? (for me, almost half an hour)  Do you realize I can eat a chicken pita and a half for that?  Not that I want to be a calorie counter but... dang.

I tried it with Kris when we went to Starbuck's for a knitting party.  Wooooo... good times, good times.  Our latest 'thing' is socks and there were 3 other people at the party making socks as well.  Yes, there was actually more than 3 people at this this knitting party.  I'd say maybe 11 people at one point.  This one girl is making an iPod cozy, which I am all over for my next project.  The Apple store offers iSocks but they're $30!! Screw that! Ok they give you six, but really... does my iPod need 6 socks?  I don't think so.  It's simple enough that I might get ambitious and put a design on it. I'm thinking maybe an emoticon, either ;) or =D.

Hmm... and with that comment have I just received a bid to be in the dork hall of fame?
