By now you are totally sick and tired of the Oscars and if so, this is not the post for you.
It's Oscar Fashion Roundup!
First up Miley Cyrus:
Was this girl even in a movie this past year? Anyway, I'm not a big fan of the dress, but credits for being different and adorably happy in it (Image from Grace magazine)
Next, we have Kate Winslet:
This has been like the best year EVAR for Kate and even though I haven't seen either of her movies, I'm happy for her. She's totally hot and seems pretty down to earth. It's been a great year for her fashion-wise as well, I think. That said, I am not a fan of this dress! I dunno... asymetrical strap, asymetrical beading, asymetrical shading... it's too much for me. But she does look gorgeous, very polished and healthy.
This one is a bit random, Marisa Tomei:
I think she fell victim to the "Best supporting actress curse" because she hasn't won anything since My Cousin Vinnie and this is like her third nom since. Anyways, loooove the dress! So detailed! So fitted! So Oscar dramatic! So pretty! And spot on with the white trend that seemed to dominate the carpet this year (very helpful as I persue wedding dress choices!). (photo from SF Examiner)
Of course we have to take a look at the Brangelinas:
(from Justjared.com) Very beautiful people. Yawn. Next!
Beyonce:
Gorgeous figure. Too bad she looks like the Oscar statue. Just no. (from Socialite Life)
This one's a winner, Penelope Cruz:
I'm a bit meh about Penelope Cruz as an actress. Vanilla Sky was stupid but I did like Volver. I think she's just a better actress in her native tongue. That said, beautiful gown and I love it for all the same reasons I love Marisa Tomei's. (from Socialite Life)
Fashion favorite, Sara Jessica Parker:
The dress is ok but I think the belt is a bit much. Did I say belt? I meant boobs. (From justjared.com)
Anne Hathaway:
Ok she looks a bit like a vampire (don't they have sun in LA? I think they have sun.) but vampires are supposed to look stunning and she does that. She has in the past looked gangly and awkward with some weird choices but this dress fits perfection, brava.
Natlie Portman:
She was just presenting this year but I have to admit this is rather underwhelming. I don't know why, the color is fab, great fit, clean and sophisticated with the hair/makeup/jewelry, but it begs for something more. Compared to what I am usually thrilled by like this, and this, and this you may or may not agree.
Frieda Pinto:
Slum Dog Millionaire is the only Oscar movie I've seen and I loved it and I really liked her in the role. That said, this dress does nothing for me. I'm not digging the one lace sleeve (I get what it's trying to do, but I think it would look better without) and she looks older than she needs to look. It seems a bit lacking when compared with the glitz and glam of the other gowns. But credit given for doing something different and looking lovely all the same.
That's it from me. There were other people wearing other things looking both good and bad but not really worth commenting on.
I don't think I'll review the guys because I can't seem to find a picture of Johnny Depp (did he even attend?) and if he's not rated, what's the fun? I will say this though, Hugh Jackman is quite a good looking chap isn't he?
