I don't know how else to say this so I'll just come right out and say it:
I'm moving to the UK
About a month ago we get news that my office might shut down. There was a chance it might stay open but I saw my career (such as it is) coming to a halt as long as I stayed here. Panic set in and I actually got a rather lucrative job offer from a rival company and I considered it for about a weekend.
And it just didn't feel right.
I like the company I work for now. I respect what they do and how they go about doing it. I've been with them close to 3 years, which is nothing and I feel like I'm just getting started. And in the past month I've learned that for me, it isn't about the money or the stock options or even security. I need to be working on something I believe in. So I looked internally within the company and found an opening in the UK that matched very close to what I do now (identical really) but with more visible responsibility. On top of that, they have senior level positions that I feel really motivated to work toward. I considered it for about a minute.
It felt right.
So here I am, with an offer on the way and it's just as well I tell everyone now so that y'all can make plans to come party it up with me before I leave (I don't know exactly when, I'm guessing I have a month). I hope everyone forgives me for the lack of posts these days but now you know why and it'll be hard to get me to shut up about it.
Jolly good.
