Normally I try to separate work-life and personal-life. Sometimes I complain about having to go to happy hour with other people's coworkers, but I don't really mind actually. It helps to keep the separation apparent.
But I've slowly been "making friends" at work through strange ties that bind: dodgeball and music.
Yes, I've joined the dodgeball league. There's about 6 people from my work on the team. Our first game is on June 16th. I don't know what I'm getting myself into, but I have been informed there are drink specials prior to the game. Aight den, I'm there.
Secondly, I discovered that my cube neighbor (sits behind my wall) is a huge fan of Stars as well. We were walking back from lunch one day and she says randomly, "Well, when there's nothing left to burn you gotta set yourself on fire..." and I immediately screamed "Staaaarrrs!!". Since then, she has introduced me to West Indian Girl and Out Hud. She sends out occasional e-mails about upcoming concerts and entitles the e-mails "Not caca".
Which is quite helpful because I don't really have time to be listening to caca music.
Anyway, next one is U.S.E. (United State of Electronica). $8 at the Casbah if anyone in the SD area is interested (John?) I haven't tried these links but I think you can hear them here.
Also, anyone listen to the new White Stripes album yet? So far I really like Blue Orchid and My Doorbell and debating getting the entire thing.
