The complete title of the book (Tale of Despereaux: Being the Story of a Mouse, a Princess, Some Soup, and a Spool of Thread) is a pretty good summary of the story, and yet it was so much more! Not surprisingly a Newbery Award winner, DiCamillo has created a definite classic for future generations.

I love that she uses the word perfidy.
I love that the concept of chivalry is now recorded somewhere else other than Sir Gawain (*yawwwwwwn*) or Cyrano de Bergerac (would rather watch Roxanne).
I love soup almost as much as I love sandwiches.
