Saw the movie last night. Pretty funny.
Best part: when "Rold" and Kumar were singing "Hold on" by Wilson Philips. I believe that song is one of the most powerful forces on the planet. It doesn't matter who you are, you can't help singing when you hear it.
"Some day somebody's gonna make you want to turn around and say goodbye
'Til then baby are you gonna let them hold you down and make you cry
Don't you know? (Don't you know?)
Things'll change
Things'll go your way
If you hoo-oold on for one more day
If you hoo-ooold on"
And I felt a little bit of AZN pride when Harold got the chick at the end. You just never see that in the movies. Clarification, in general guys always get the chick at the end. But not when the guy is Korean and reminds me of the guy my mom would love to see me with (well, except how he's baked half the time). So for him to triumph with a non Asian girl, on the big screen, is nothing short of progressive.
Although the really big breakthrough, movie history making moment was when they mentioned kimchee jigae. I'm so happy I'm part of a generation that got to witness that. I'm sure to most viewers it was only funny in that they guess it's an "ethnic" food... but to Koreans it goes deeper than that. Kimchee is ... well let's just say that one year church camp was called "Camp Kimchee" and I still have memories of that summer.
I bet my mom knows John Cho's mom.
